Every single registered domain has no less than two Name Server records which show where it is hosted i.e. by using these records you point your domain address to the servers of a particular hosting company. In this way, you have both your website and your emails managed by the very same company. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), on the other hand, there is a variety of other records, such as A and MX. The former reveals which server handles the site for a given Internet domain and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the second one reveals which server deals with the e-mails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). For instance, any time you type a domain name in your web browser, your request is forwarded through the global DNS system to the provider whose NS records the domain name uses and from there you could be forwarded to the servers of another provider provided you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your Internet domain. Having independent records for the website and the emails means that you could have your site and your emails with 2 different providers if you wish.

Custom MX and A Records in Cloud Web Hosting

With a cloud web hosting package from us, you'll be able to create or modify the A and MX records of your domain names and subdomains with ease via our advanced Hepsia hosting Control Panel. Editing the default records will take 2 clicks and the setup of a new record requires only a couple of more clicks, so although you may have never dealt with such matters, you won't encounter any complications. We also have an in depth help section that makes things even easier. If you want to change your email provider and you have to set up several MX records in addition to the default two, you can choose their priority i.e. which record is going to handle your emails first when somebody sends you a message. Normally the new provider will tell you what these values need to be. With our shared plans, you're going to have full control over your domain addresses and subdomains and you will be able to manage their A and MX records easily and at any time.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The Hepsia hosting CP, which comes with our Linux semi-dedicated hosting, will enable you to view the A and MX records for each of the domain names or subdomains in your account and if required, to edit any of them or set up new ones. Controlling these records is incredibly easy because all domains/subdomains are going to be listed alphabetically, so updating a record is as easy as entering it in a box and saving the change. Creating a new one takes just a couple of more clicks and in case you experience any problems, you can check out our instructional videos on how to set up A and MX records. Our system is intuitive enough to be used by individuals with little or no previous experience, yet advanced enough to offer you complete control of all records and to permit you to have different A records even for domain.com and www.domain.com. If you are moving your emails to a different company and they ask you to create more than two different MX records, you can choose the priority of each one.
